Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Oliver & Boyd, Edinburgh. 1966. 200 pages with index. First edition, first printing. Bright, tight and clean. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Pages and endpapers are bright and clean. Book is about fine with flaws limited to a textural, circular blind stamp on FFEP. Small, textural scuff on front pastedown (barely visible.) Rare, original DJ with minor rubbing along DJ edges. An incredibly crisp and bright copy from the collectible University Mathematical Texts series; this being #32. Legendary mathematician Geoffrey Colin Shephard was known for his work on convex geometry and reflection groups. He asked Shephard's problem on the volumes of projected convex bodies, and posed another problem on polyhedral nets, while proving the Shephard-Todd theorem in invariant theory of finite groups, and began the study of complex polytopes, and classified the complex reflection groups. A rare title in the rare original DJ; NF/NF.
