Small 4to, pale gray-green cloth with gold lettering on spine & gold-stamped figures of Moley, Ratty, and Toad on the front cover, Mylar-protected dust jacket (not price-clipped) of a river framed by tree branches by Tashia Tudor, profusely illustrated with a colored frontispiece & 15 comparable full-page pictures, and many B&W in-text sketches by Tasha Tudor, pictorial endpapers, 255 pages. Tasha Tudor (1915 - 2008) was a much beloved and honored American illustrator and writer of many children's books--a number of them award winners! During her long life, Tasha received many awards and honors, including Caldecott Honors for Mother Goose in 1945 and 1 is One in 1957. She received the Regina Medal in 1971 for her contributions to children's literature. Kenneth Grahame (1859 - 1932) was a Scottish writer, most famous for The Wind in the Willows (1908), one of the classics of children's literature. It has given rise to many film and television adaptations. He also wrote The Reluctant Dragon. The cloth is clean and tight, with typical light age-toning. The pictorial dust jacket is clean though rubbed with faded spine and slightly darkened with good-sized chips missing at the top and bottom of the spine and upper right corner of the cover.
