About this Item: Random House, NY, 1942. Orig Red Cloth w/ Gilt. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus (Brodarted). Wartime Edition. This 313 page Wartime edition is proudlu presented in both the publisher's original binding and original dustwrapper. The binding is a soft red cloth with black and gilt embellishments and titling. The jacket is a beautiful Salter design and is prime save for miniscule chipping on edges, and the whole is now protected and smoothed against future ambient abuse by professionally fitted and installed Brodart mylar. Author's third book, eleven short stories. The magic felicity of its prose, the dramatic power of its story-telling, the serene and turbulent beauty of its land- and seascapes give to this collection of stories by Dinesen a distinction achieved by no other writer of her time. The eleven stories encompass, in their range and variety, the natural and the supernatural, the world of reality and the realm of the incorporeal. They are evocations of moods, mystical and aglow with life, which linger long in one's memory. These are heart-stirring tales of fantasy and actuality, wrought with almost incredible wizardry. But enough said of select offerings which take on a life of their own and speak so very loudly for themselves. Read to learn and enjoy; go forth to share and enjoin.as the Author Dinesen, and the Publisher Random House, and most recently of all, how the righteously observant followers of Michael Julian Hirschfeld Galleries would both collectively since 1931 and altruistically into the future wish you to. Period. Case closed. Symbiotically beneficial acquisition pending your enlightened and self-actualized decision. Enjoy and then Deploy, as an elder Mark Twain reportedly once said while visiting the open-air riverfront reading and lecturing tent of a very youthful, but nevertheless wise Richard Hirschfeld. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover. Seller Inventory # 005785
