Hardcover book bound in blue cloth with silver foil titles and decorations in very good condition showing some edge wear on all sides. The front free end paper shows discoloration, perhaps off-setting from an enclosure. In a light blue unclipped pictorial dust jacket in very good condition showing some fading and light edge wear. History told through letters, logs, journals and diaries beginning in Colonial times up into the 19th Century. The witch referred to in the title is Susanna Martin, tried and executed during the Salem witch trials of 1692, an early familty member whose fate impacted on later lives. This chronicle is New England and American history in microcosm with and emphasis on seafaring, ships, commerce and yachts.
