About this Item: GRIN Publishing, Germany, 2010. Paperback. Condition: New. 1. Auflage. Language: German. Brand new Book. Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Kultur und Landeskunde, Note: 1,7, Universität Leipzig (Institut für Anglistik), Veranstaltung: The English Constitution, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: When Locke studied in Oxford, he turned from Aristotle and the scholastic philosophy, which was regarded as the basis of the philosophical curriculum of that time, finally to Descartes. In the course of his career, Locke developed his own philosophical and political ideas which were rooted in the tradition of the English Empiricism (and Pragmatism) with the predecessors William of Ockham and Francis Bacon. In applying his philosophy to politics or education, Locke was always guided by practical utility. In his reasoning he was never undermining the logical basis for the conduct of practical life. Locke's political philosphy, especially that which he enfolds in the Second Treatise of Government, highly influenced the formulation of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the USA. About this Item: Read Books, United Kingdom, 2008. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English. Brand new Book. This early collection by enlightenment thinker John Locke is both expensive and hard to find in its first edition. It is the seventh volume of the series and contains his notes on St. Paul s Epistles. This is a fascinating work and thoroughly recommended for anyone interested in Enlightenment philosophy. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.". Seller Inventory # LIE9781443704441

About this Item: Greenwood Press, Westport, first edition, 1985, 1985. Cloth, 8vo, xx, 185 pp. "The following listing encompasses all editions and translations of Locke's works, including abridgments and selections in anthologies, from the first editions to the present (roughly April 1985), as well as the forthcoming Clarendon edition . In addition, Locke's works are set in their original controversial context: entries are included for works Locke wrote about, and sections of entries are given for the controversies which his works provoked during and immediately following his lifetime. The listing of Locke's works includes not only those items of which he was the author, but also several works which he edited or translated and two works . in which his role is uncertain. Finally, there is an appendix of incorrect or doubtful attributions: works that have been ascribed to Locke but in which it is reasonably certain that he had no part. The entries in the checklist contain extensive bibliographical annotations: relationships to other works, citations of secondary literature relating to bibliographic issues such as dating, publishing history, corrections to the text, etc." - from the introduction. Very Good. Seller Inventory # ABE-35586
