Selected by Ann Zwinger, who also wrote the introduction and provided the illustrations for this attractive volume. In her introduction, she states: 'Muir and Austin are the first truly western nature writers. Their writing, their point of view, their dedication to the mountains and the deserts of the West have sustained western nature writers from their day forward.'
