Don't judge a book by its cover. For bibliophiles like myself, that's easier said than done. By definition, a bibliophile is "a lover of books, especially for qualities of format". For some, the obsession could be with binding or typeset. For others, the spine or endpapers. My personal weakness is a well-designed cover. I love a hardcover that pops on the shelf - and yes, I certainly buy books for their cover alone. In addition to rounding up the best reads of the year, we've rounded up our favorite covers from 2017 (there's even some cross-over). Take a look and judge all you wish - leave a comment and tell us what you love most about physical books!
