About this Item

A collection of 11 original black and white photographs, by the Birmingham photographers A.C. Keily and Oscar V. Hunt. 10 of the photographs are (8" by 11") and there is one panoramic shot of Vesttavia (by Hunt). Three photograph are by Keily, two by Hunt and the other six unatributed. The depict interior and exterior scenes. The photographs are not dated but are from the mid-Thirties. George Battey Ward, a former mayor of Brimingham AL, built this circular house in 1924, designed after the Temple of Vesta in Rome. He named the house Vestavia, or "home by the way". Most of the building was demolished in 1971. A delightful and informative collection of images depicting this interesting estate. Some of the photograph are mounted on light canvas; all are in good condition. Bookseller Inventory # 002163
