Stephen Van Rensselaer was a member of a colonial Dutch family and the eighth in a long line of patroons, a general in the War of 1812, a member of Congress from New York, a devout member of the Dutch Reformed Church, and an educational philanthropist and founder of Rensselaer Institute. 8vo. 144 pp. Good. Removed from a nonce volume with traces of previous binding; without wrappers. Title-page with light soiling and a rubber-stamp and perforation-stamp from a now-defunct library.
