This compilation is of legal directives concerning 1) parochial jurisdiction in burial of individuals under the care of a naval chaplain who die not aboard ship but in a land based hospital, and 2) the need to establish definitively how to perform a Caesarian delivery after the death of the mother. This latter ? "Modo de hacer la operacion cesarea despues de muerta la madre" ? occupies most of the final two leaves, and begins with the practical precaution, "Before opening the belly, carefully examine to make sure the mother, although apparently dead, is not alive." Instructions follow on how to ascertain death, on the approved method of Cesarean section on a dead mother, and on what should be done with the fetus if alive and if dead.
