About this Item

Report of the Secretary of State John Forsyth, dated December 2, 1837, on relations between the United States and the Mexican republic and accompanying diplomatic papers (A?Y). Originally included with the "Message of the President of the United States to the Two House of Congress at the Commencement of the First Session of the Twenty-Fifth Congress." Now this document stands alone. Government document: 25th Congress, 1st Session, no. 3. Provenance: Signature of Henry D. Gilpin (here ?H.D. Gilpin) appears in top margin of first page (i.e., p. 31). Gilpin was the attorney who argued the Amistad case. 8vo. 31?164 pp. Removed from a nonce volume; stitch holes at inner margin, not touching text. Inked numeral on first page, inked notation on last page; no other markings. Very good. Bookseller Inventory # 27751
