12mo. 423 pages, x, [2], indexed. Hardcover bound in blue cloth with lettering in gilt. The binding is a bit rubbed and bumped. The spine is dulled, and there is a rubbed white spot on the front cover. Early signature of "Lucian St.(?)" on the front flyleaf is dated 1927. Lacks the frontis portrait of Woodrow Wilson, and the gutter between the Half Title and the Title Page is cracked. The rest of the text block and the inner hinges are sound. Endpapers toned and foxed. The text is generally clean. Early (original?) bookseller's ticket at the bottom of the rear flyleaf reads, "The Book Shop, Inc. / 110 S. Greene St. / Greensboro, N.C." Carter Glass (1858-1946) was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and was the Secretary of the Treasury under Woodrow Wilson. He helped establish the U.S. financial regulatory system and was instrumental in setting up the Federal Reserve System. In this work he discusses the history and early aspects of the Federal Reserve System.
