About this Item

First edition. The book offers a series of letters from the author's tenure as a volunteer ambulanceman during World War I. It is widely recognized as one of the treasures of World War I books and did much to influence the opinions of those at home. Tight binding, virtually no edge wear except worn corners. Book is square and solid. There are a few pages with water stains at bottom but does not affect text or illustrations. One page has a tiny tear at top (see photos).
