This appears to be the first printing of this edition, with additional material on the early missions that did not appear in the earlier editions. This edition not found in Streit. This trove of research material contains the Jesuit reports on their world-wide missionary activities in Asia (China, India, Malabar, Siam etc.) Africa (Abyssinia, Algiers etc.), the Middle East (Aleppo, Bagdad, Constantinople, Isfahan, Smyrna etc.), Oceania (Gambier, Marquise, Tonga etc.), including the American missions in Louisiana, Texas, Kentucky. Ohio, Michigan, Florida, Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, Oregon, California, the Rocky Mountain regions, and Hawaii. These relations cover the Native Americans, the lives and privations of the missionaries themselves, their hunting, their travels, etc. in hundreds of letters by missionaries, bishops and priests.
