8vo, vii + pp119 (English translation) +pp135(Original Persian) hardcover issued without DJ. Probable original calf binding with gilt decoration and red leather title label with gilt titles to spine in poor condition, with front board and FFE paper detached but present and back board coming loose. rubbing to both boards and fading of gilt and rubbing to spine. Inside however the pages are surprisingly clean with the odd spot of foxing (mostly to the Persian language section) and some recent notes in pen to the margins of the Persian section. To front paste down is also the bookmark of H. A. Powis and underneath the signatures of Colonel Sir Herbert Lloyd Watkin Williams-Wynn, 7th Baronet, and another Williams Wynn signature above, which I have been unable to identify. Although not the best binding it is a very scarce first edition of Ousley's translation of these romantic Persian stories Printed from a manuscript in Ousley's own collection, one of many works translated from the library of the great Orientalist Ouseley during this period.
