Sicilian Bernardo Mattarella (1905 - 1971) was a controversial Italian politician, a leading member of the Christian Democracy party, who held several state ministerial posts through his career (Minister of Agriculture and Forests; Minister of Posts and Telecommunications; Minister of International Commerce; Minister of Transports; Minister of Merchant Navy). Mattarella was accused (in part by Italian Communist Party factions), but never convicted of ties to the Sicilian Mafia. He was the father of two sons : Piersanti, President of the Regional Government of Sicily, was assassinated by the Mafia; and the second son, Sergio, who after holding various ministerial positions, was elected in 2015 as the 12th President of Italy.

Digest sized pamphlet; 5 pages; 5 3/4? x 8 1/4?, printed pale green wraps, stapled (one staple). CONDITION : - VERY GOOD- Slight toning about the edges, else clean and attractive with negligible signs of handling. Text is in Italian.

Also, folded and accompanying the pamphlet is the April 1971 issue of ?Bollettino Parrocchiale di S. Francesca Romana? in which is an article by P. Basilio Scarpellini on Bernardo Mattarella, with photograph of Mattarella. The article takes up a partial page.This was found opened and folded to the article, and we have left it as is. the issue has folded creasing and some wear to the bottom edge of one page, which is somewhat chipped.
