Later half-calf and marbled boards, with original ornately gilt spine relaid, all edges coloured yellow, 8vo, xxiii, 668 pp. Approximately 1,500 entries. The main part of the book consists of the bibliography of printed books on heraldry and allied subjects from the beginning of printing to 1821, arranged chronologically. For the most important works a precis of the contents and biographical notes on the author are included. Armorial bookplate of James Arnold Frere ( sometime Chester Herald of Arms in Ordinary) on front pastedown endpaper. Rubbed at extremities and slightly chipped at the head of the spine, Good.
