4to., xvi, 256pp., 16 full colour tipped in plates with titled tissue guards plus 117 other wood-cut illustrations which range from small vignettes to full page illustrations, original green cloth covered boards with gilt titling and decoration to upper board and spine with colour pictorial panel to centre of upper cover. An unusually VG++ clean copy of this famous work by Heath Robinson. William Heath Robinson, an English cartoonist and illustrator, was best known for his drawings of eccentric machines and Bill the Minder represents one of the first books where he began to explore the possibilities of such illustration and design. This story follows the adventures of the young Bill and his cousins, Boadicea and Chad. In the process of their adventures they meet many strange people and help solve their unique problems with the use of fantastic machines devised by Bill.
