Octavo in blindstamped brown cloth lettered in gilt. First American edition (with "Preface to the First American Edition") Advert endpapers, xvii+146 pp. plus 2-page publsiher's advert atv rear. With three tables and a diagram of a distilling unit. A tight example but good only, rubbed and worn about the extremities and with some rippling to the cloth; dampstaining to the first few laeves gradually diminishing then reappeaing on the last several leaves. Scattered foxing. Sections include: "Distillation", "Brandy, Foreign", "Imitations", "Holland Gin", "Rum, Foreign", "Wines, Foreign"(production, divisions and varieties, amnagaement, imitations), "Ale and Beer" , "Malt Liquors" and an appendix on American liquors (brandies, bitters, rum, whisky) and American wines (blackberry, claret, currant, family, etc), codials, cider, vinegar, whiskey.
