1980 was not only the year that Kurata published his now well-known work Flash Up, for which he won Japan's prestigious Kimura Ihei award, but the year in which he contributed to this rare work about Japan's biker sub-culture, AKA the "Bosozoku". The book is filled with pictures of bike-gangsters, their bikes, their symbols, etc. The photographs are by Kurata (and three other lesser-known Japanese photographers), and certainly foreshadow his work in Flash Up. The book and original cover are in good condition, and this copy includes an extremely rare advertising sheet featuring upcoming titles from the same publisher, including "Ladies Bosozoqu", for which the publisher had been soliciting appropriate reader photos to include in same.
