A 1st print (stated) of a Bantam Books PB edition of one of Carr's locked room mysteries from the late 1930s where neither of Carr's two major detectives, Dr Gideon Fell nor Henry Merrivale, appear. A condensation of the book appeared in 11/52 issue of Detective Book Magazine. GGA cover. Bantam 1207. "She worshiped evil and made murder her religion .". Light edge wear with some dinginess to the from cover. Small closed tear at the bottom of the front cover. Light damp stain along the edges of the pages. The binding glue has dried and split at page 128/129. Pages 129 - 134 are loose and laid in. Light browning to the pages. A fair to good copy. Seller Inventory # 011811
