First edition, first printing of Camp Concentration by Thomas M. Disch, published by Rupert Hart-Davis Ltd, London, in 1968. A near fine book free from internal inscriptions, very slight pushing to head of spine and mild browning to the text block. In a near fine unclipped dust wrapper, some bumping to head of the spine, fading to the spine and light edge wear to extremities. Jacket design by Ken Reilly. Camp Concentration by Thomas M. Disch is a dystopian science fiction novel set during an alternate U.S. war. The story follows Louis Sacchetti, a conscientious objector and poet, who is imprisoned in a secret military facility. There, inmates are subjected to experiments that dramatically boost their intelligence but also lead to a rapid and painful death. The novel explores themes of knowledge, power and the human condition, blending dark satire with philosophical reflections on morality and creativity.
