First English Edition. Iowa set novel of a medical student who returns home to help his father's dry-goods store. Basis for two films, the 1939 Leigh Jason directed version starring Anne Shirley and John Archers and a 1959 production starring Dean Martin and Shirley McLaine. Very scarce English printing.
