Includes an impressive 47-page list of subscribers. The printed price of 12s. on the spine label is adjusted by hand to read 12/6. A label on the lower margin of the front cover gives instructions for paying for a copy of the work. Welsh antiquary and grammar school teacher, Davies "was never wanting in ingenuity, though the extent of his critical powers may be illustrated by his contentions that in the mystic Welsh bards he found certain terms evidently pertaining to the Hebrew language, and that the British mysteries commemorate the deluge and those characters which are connected with its history" (DNB). Celtic Researches is the best known and most important in Davies' canon.
