The first comprehensive collection of public messages and papers of the presidents, up to 1897. Gilt top edge, marbled boards with partial leather. Unfortunately, this set has been over-loved. A new owner with prowess at binding could give this set a new life. Volume I's spine lettering and cloth has come off, as has the front board, but is present. Volume II's spine cloth is also off, with less present. Volume III's spine is just starting to come off. Volume IV's is scuffed and worn. Volume V's is a bit torn and scuffed. Volume VI's is torn and coming off. Volume VII's is half off, and the upper half with the lettering is missing. Volume VIII's is worn and partially chipped off through the lettering. Volume IX's is chipped at the head. Volume X's is detaching. The text in all of these is, amazingly, pristine and unaffected by the chaos outside.
