First edition, 8vo, pp. 93 photographic illustrations on 48 plates; original blue cloth, spine stamped in black; front hinge starting, all else very good, clean and sound. This copy with a note on the front pastedown by a later owner: "This was (I think she is dead) not only a very corageous but a perceptive gal. This is a trip I would have loved to have taken but only managed some tra[v]els in Afghanistan. A.F.S.M / 19 June '78." Furthermore, on 23 pages throughout, there are additional marginal comments on Forbes' text, in ink. A.F.S.M. is A.F.S. Mckenzie whose rubberstamp is about the inscription.
