First English edition thus (see below). Octavo. 233pp. Illustrated. Owner stamp and signature of a noted American psychologist on the front fly and board edges with a couple of gentle bumps else fine in a worn, about very good dust jacket moderately soiled on the spine and lower panel and with two tiny tears near the spine base. Looks better than it sounds. Corners of the cover are a little bumped, but NO pages are affected (i.e. there are NO page creases). Two previous owners' names on the front free endpaper. Two underlines on title page. All other pages are clean and unmarked. 1951. First Printing of the Revised Edition. Well illustrated with 48 figures in the text, and with 5 plates on glossy paper, inserted. The author was a professor of Zoology at the University of Chicago; later Head Professor of Biology, University of Florida. Tables. Footnotes. Bibliography. Index.
