Lucas, presented in the second volume of this work, spans the years 1852 to 1908 and forms a rich and virtually unexplored archive for the art historian and social historian. The first volume includes an introduction describing Lucas' career, 130 illustrations of works of art mentioned in the diary, and an annotated index.
