First edition, 8vo, pp. [8], 12, plus 3 unpaginated lexicons in triple column, plus ad appendix of proper names from the New and Old Testaments in triple column, plus [2] ads for other books by Murdoch; original drab paper-covered boards, paper label on spine, but generally a very good, sound copy. Bookplate of Robert Washington Oates on front pastedown. A 5-p. list of subscribers lists 160 names, and the edition was likely small. Among the subscribers is the late lexicographer, John Walker, and Gilbert and Robert Burns, respectively brother and son of the poet. Murdoch, who was a close friend of Robert Burns the poet, is described on the title page as being a teacher of the French and English languages, author of a treatise on French pronunciation, and editor of the stereotyped edition of Walker's Pronouncing Dictionary.
