Provenance: Bibliothe?ques Jean-Pierre Faur and Em- manuel Pierrat (Berge?'s catalogue for these two collections describes this copy as an ' exemplaire en te?te' * ) , then to The LSD Library. *The binding seems to be identical to the BnF copy seen by Pia, lending weight to the theory that this is an ' exemplaire en te?te', specially bound in a handful of copies and therefore quite rare and for the connoisseur collector only. The classic French text on erotic slang, with good impressions of Jules-Adolphe Chauvet's frontispieces and one remarkable one by Rops in black, in a beautiful and expanded edition of a work that the BnF extracted readings from for their landmark 2007-2008 show of erotic books along with poems by Baudelaire. Delvau and Jules Choux (who took charge of this edition after the former's death) used the art of quotation extensively themselves citing Baudelaire, Gautier, Henri Monnier, Nadaud and others. Great Langue Verte en- tries include ?Agacer le sous-pre?fet', ?Avoir une grande giberne', ?Baiser a? la Florentine' and ?Canichon'. As well as ?E?tre couverte d'ardoise', ?Faire une pince au bonnet de grenadin', ?Faire voir la feuille a? l'envers' and not forgetting ?La vaisselle de poche'. 219104.
