Original blue cloth, titled in gilt to upper cover and spine; pp. xiv; [2] 416; a little worn, with some interior creasing and past ownership inscription from '1921'. First edition. Halford himself was considered an expert and one of the few authorities on the subject, having an extensive background in the field. In this collection, he endeavours to promise the reader a "full and complete treatise" on the dry-fly. This collection, which includes two volumes, sets out to cover the entire subject- both the fishing and the entomology as well as the management, patterns and latest manipulations of the practice. 1st DE LUXE Edn. xiv â"(1) -416 pages, . 4to., top edge gilt, frontis landing a trout+ 43 other full-page plates many printed on India paper, and text illustrations. Title page printed in red and black. Number 67 of the "Edition De Luxe" deluxe editions which is limited to 100 copies, signed and numbered by Halford on the title page. Personal presentation inscription with numerous signatures dated 1938 to inner blank. The contents are clean with no other marks. Bound in the original dark red calf, the spine in six compartments with title and author to two compartments the remaining with central flower vignette.
