First edition. Introduction by Booth Tarkington. Frontispiece by Neysa McMein. Illustrated with black and white photographic plates. Chipping at corners, tiny stains on boards with a toned spine, very good. The first book for both authors, a clever comedy about a woman who tries to advance her husband's career by organizing a disastrous dinner party. The original New York production featured Lynn Fontanne in the title role. Filmed several times, first by Sidney Franklin in 1923 with Constance Talmadge in the title role, then remade in 1930 as *Not So Dumb*, a talkie with Marion Davies, William Holden, and Donald Ogden Stewart, and later in 1940 by W. Sylvan Simon with Ann Sothern.
