This study follows their development as they quickly grew in sophistication, their makers trying to out-do one another in style and efficiency.

Peter Card runs an auction business specializing in transport memorabilia. He has been collecting early cycle lamps and accessories for many years. He is a member of the Advisory Council of the National Motor Museum. He lives in Somerset.
