Octavo; publisher's cloth-backed boards, black topstain, in pictorial dust jacket by Michael Bramman retaining original price ($4.00); [8],275pp. Moderate shelf wear to jacket margins, spine panel a bit toned, light soil to rear panel, faint ghost of old price sticker to upper jacket flap, corners nudged, else Very Good and sound. The author's brilliantly titled and designed debut novel, joining the ranks with Kingsley Amis's Lucky Jim and Barbara Pym's Crampton Hodnet in the canon of comic novels poking fun at provincial academia.
