First edition, 8vo, pp. [14], 270, [2]; 33 illustrations from photographs; fine copy in original red cloth stamped in gilt on spine, very gbood dust jacket with 3" tear in the front panel (no loss). Foreword by Dorothy Cothergill. This copy inscribed by Lincoln "To Vova Jaskovsky, Hope Escape to China will bring fond memories to you from long ago. Sincerely Anna Lincoln, December 1982." Born in Warsaw, Poland Anna was the daughter of a textile industrialist and she studied at Berkeley and Columbia and graduated from NYU. She married Adrian C. Lincoln, Jr., a descendant of President Abraham Lincoln. This is a coming-of-age story played out against the backdrop of World War II, and her family's escape through Russia and Siberia to Japan and China.
