Bound in the publisher's yellow cloth, lettered and illustrated in red, in the original colour illustrated dust-wrapper (small losses on backstrip, price clipped). London: Faber and Faber Limited, 1949. Slight soiling to one page and neat ink inscription dated 1949. A very good and almost fine copy. The plates had previously appeared in Punch and were brought together for the first time in book form with the added illustrations and captions. "For this is the peak of Emett's commentary on railways up to the present time. Surely no more needs to be said, except perhaps to inform amateurs that on this occasion "Nellie" does not puff alone, but is rivalled by "Tawney Pipit" (on a bird watching expedition) and by a remarkably ingenious engine daringly named "Sun-god"".
