FAIR book. Half black morroco. 4 raised ribs. Bright gilt lettered spine. Gilt soldier on upper board. Worn cover. Weak hinges. Backstrip separated at upper gutter line. MISSING last blank eps. Last intact page the "errata" page. 1st two eps with closed tears. Illus on p 224 torn in half, then neatly repaired. Top half of rear board neatly covered over with cloth tape of same red color as bottom half. Assume this covered a major flaw. All chapters with headpieces & initial letters. Weak binding but no loose leaves. Leaves a bit aged but no foxing, marginalia, etc. About 24 full page plates. Two are tissue guarded "in memorium" of fallen soldiers. Other 22 or so photos of officers, none tissue guarded and there is no plate index. FAIR 1/2 black morocco. 1st ed, 7"x4.5", 280pp.
