History of Java written by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles (1781-1826), English colonial administrator and founder of modern Singapore. Raffles was one of the central figures of British influence in Asia, and early study of the history and culture of the Malay peninsula. Raffles, Lieutenant-Governor of Java during the British rule 1811 to 1816, acknowledged as a great influence on the history of Southeast Asia.
