This Very Good condition copy of the first edition has a slightly loose binding that is noticeable at the center of the book, but the book's sewn binding and all of its parts are completely intact. The handbook is heavily illustrated with advertisements, book catalogues, and full-page images of Corliss Steam Engines and diagrams of their parts. The original Corliss was patented in 1849. An interesting anecdote: This engine powered all the exhibits in the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, and was displayed at that fair.
