Octavo. vii, 352 pp. Isaac Markens was a Jewish American writer, born in New York City October 9, 1846, died in 1928. He was the son of Elias Markens, a linguist and Orientalist. Isaac Markens was educated in the NY public schools, became a merchant, and afterward private secretary to Railway Commissioner Albert Fink. Subsequently he entered journalism, wrote for the New York Commercial Advertiser and the Mail and Express. He was for several years secretary to the board of arbitration of the Joint Executive Committee of Eastern and Western Railways. Blind-stamped brown cloth with gold lettering on spine.
