Octavo. Original blue wrappers, printed in black. A fine copy. Uncorrected proof copy of the first US edition, published simultaneously in the UK. This is one of the more elusive Benson items: no proof copies were issued in the UK for any of Benson's James Bond titles, and only a handful of proofs appeared in the US. This copy has pleasing provenance: from the library of author, publisher, and Ian Fleming bibliographer Otto Penzler, and latterly part of the significant Ian Fleming collection of Martin Sch�yen (b.1940), with his bookplate. Sch�yen's private collection of manuscripts, which span all cultures and all time periods, is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind. Gilbert, p. 613; The Sch�yen Collection No. 366.
