8vo 8" - 9" tall; Two volume set, original edition. Limited to 250 copies, not numbered. Bound in 1/4 leather over marbled paper boards. Black morocco title labels to red leather spines with raised bands and rolled gilt rulling over hubs. Presumably bound thus for the Rhode Island State Library with ownership in gilt to base of spines. Boards attached and sound in the joints but with evidence of partial detachment corrected by use of PVA archival glue to the inner joints and endpage margins. Faint residue of bookplates removed from front pastedowns but no other prior library or institutional ownership marks or attachments - aside from 5 digit numbers penned in the gutters of the front matter of Vol II. Illustrated with plates and facsimile documents. Some stress and closed short tears in the gutters of the front matter of Vol I from the glue used in binding repair. Contents bright and clean with expected light toning to page stock. Overall solid and clean with potential for better restoration. G+ .
