Six John Galsworthy Pamphlets: For Love of Peace; The Land; The Bells of Peace; International Thought; On Expression

Covering topics including animal rights, inter-war politics and literary criticism, present here are five short publications from John Galsworthy, including four first editions. Six early twentieth century publications of the works of English novelist and playwright John Galsworthy, author of The Forsyte Saga, and winner of the 1932 Nobel Prize in Literature.Present here are:Two 1912 copies of the novella 'For the Love of Beasts', a work advocating for animal rights. First published in Pall Mall Gazette, Galsworthy gave permission for it to be reprinted by a number of animal welfare societies to raise funds. Present here are the printings of The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and the Animals' Friend Society.The first edition of 'The Land', a short plea from Galsworthy in which he makes an argument for better utilisation of the land for the sake of national security. Published towards the end of the First World War in January 1918, it offers an interesting insight into the mindset of the British at the end of the war.The first edition of the short 1921 poem 'The Bells of Peace', a work limited to 1,000 copies printed.The 1923 first edition of 'International Thought', a political essay reflecting on the tumultuous years after the first world war. The profits for the sale from this pamphlet was donated to the League of Nations Union.And finally, the 1924 first edition of Galsworthy's lecture 'On Expression', an interesting analysis of expression and the use of language within the world and literature. Within his talk, Galsworthy looks at Shakespeare, Cockney, and the writing of Jane Austen. In the publisher's original paper wraps.
