Add to basketGreene, Graham. THE LITTLE HORSE BUS; illustrated by Dorothy Craigie. London: Max Parrish, (1952). FIRST EDITION. 8vo - 8-11/16" x 7-5/16". Red cloth covered boards with decoration stamped in gilt to front cover, and titles stamped in gilt to spine for what is basically a flawless copy of the book. Original publisher's color pictorial priced (8/6 NET) dust wrapper with minute touches of rubbing to the flap fold corners, a single short closed tear, 1/2" long, to the top edge of back panel, and light scattered foxing which is mainly visible on the back flap for what is a nice example of the dust wrapper. 35 pp. Graham Greene's third children's book, coming after "The Little Fire Engine" from 1950 and "The Little Train" from 1946, which he secretly wrote, but gave the writing credit to Dorothy Craigie. The book tells the story of Mr. Potter, the local grocer who falls on hard times when a new competitor locates right across the street from his store; many adventures ensue and in the end, a change in fortune occurs for Mr. Potter; illustrated in vibrant colors by the same Dorothy Craigie to whom Greene gave the writing credit to for "The Little Train;" minor light scattered spotting to front paste-down, first leaf, last two leaves and back paste-down, otherwise internally the book is fine. The condition of the book is NEAR FINE. The condition of the dust wrapper is VERY GOOD +.
