1st edition. A Good copy. 8vo., xiv, (i), 407 pp., illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and 26 b&w drawings and plates. Bound in brown cloth with title on spine in gilt. End papers coated brown.Moderate edge wear, with tips rubbed through. Hinges reinforced with brown, cloth, matching the end papes well. Interestingly, the cloth spine bears the name of the publisher as J. B. Lippincott & Co. Lippincott likely bought the sheets and bound them for sale in America. (making this a bit of a Frankenstein).
