About this Item

George Dugas (1833-1928) was a Canadian priest and author who was born in Lower Canada, ordained in 1862, and was a missionary in the Red River country by 1866. Contains "Legende de la femme sauvage," "Massacre de la riviere Saint-Pierre," " Marguerite Trottier, scalpee par les Souix," "Voyage de 1800 milles a pied, fait par Jean-Baptiste Lajimonier dans l'hiver de 1815," "Legende du Fort Garry, en 1834 et 1835," etc. There are two old round stamps, one on the front end paper and front paste down (one from Marquette & one from Calumet). His name is misspelled on title page--"Dugast." This is the scarce 1st edition--not a reprint edition. Half leather with a black leather spine and corner tips over paper covered boards; there is light wear to extremities, and some rubbing to the paper covered boards. There are two old previous owner stamps, one on front free end paper and one on the front paste down. There is age toning to the pages, else this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book. Ref: Peel 508 ; Frontis Illustration; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 141 pages.

We strive to ship all orders within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on 8vo size books (about 8"x5") weighing 2.0 pounds. If your book order contains more than one volume or is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know if extra shipping is required.
