Add to basketHB 1st Edition thus. Presentation copy. Blue leather boards. Gilt impressed titles front. Gilt titles spine + impressed banding. 24.2 18.2cm. 127 pages vellum coloured. Top edge gilt blocked. Blue marbled e/ps. b/w Dickens portrait frontis. b/w plates by well known artists. Decorated chapter headings. Text enclosed in double line borders. Foreword by Lady Dickens. This book was the last of Dickens to be published, written in 1849. Expressly for his children. The manuscript passed down through the family and as they wre in favour of publication, it was first published in serial form in March 1934. There are 3 facsimile illustrations of Dickens' original manuscript. Condition: Boards are sunned and age discoloured on spine, top edges + front centre edges, these will come more alive with a bit of a clean and polish. o/p top right free page, dedication in period ink writing dated 1934. Otherwise clean, little wear, tight binding, good colour. Good + condition.
