A near fine book signed by a previous owner to the title page in blue ink, bumping to spine tips and browning to spine, shelf wear to front and rear panels, browning to the text block. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a powerful allegory about human nature and society. The novel follows a group of boys stranded on a deserted island, who initially attempt to govern themselves. However, as their attempts at order collapse, they descend into savagery and violence. Golding explores themes of civilisation versus barbarism, the loss of innocence and the inherent darkness within humans, presenting a chilling portrait of the fragile veneer of society.
