First edition, 8vo, pp. [5], 6-155, [1]; original blind-stamped green cloth; gilt spine decoration; spine extremities chipped; corners bumped; otherwise very good. Bookseller sticker of F.S. Monroe, Taunton, Mass. Timothy Shay Arthur was a prolific author and publisher (Wright attributing over 75 titles to his credit), best known for his didactic, moralistic and simple stories. He was closely associated with the Temperance movement, having written the influential Ten Nights in a Bar-room and What I Saw There, which was adapted into a popular play. American Imprints 45-296.
