Heavy toning to pps 30-31, likely from previously laid in item, rest lightly toned but clean. A small collection of poems, including "A True Story" of Christian missionary work in Nova Scotia and the romance between a French artist and "Luxie," the daughter of a Micmac chief. The book is dedicated to (Judge) Charles C. Hagerty, who for 20 years served as "Chief" of the "Tuckebatchee Tribe", a men's group formed by members of Emmanuel Methodist Episcopal Church in Mansfield, Mass., modeled after Native American customs and rituals. "May we play Indian but in all relations of life show ourselves 'White' men." Scarce, with only 2 copies found in OCLC.
